Nemeth v. Columbia University Health Care, Inc

Payments to qualified class members were distributed on February 27, 2026, with checks sent by mail and digital payments sent via email from the sender “Columbia Data Incident Settlement Administrator.” For those who selected the digital payment option, please check the email account for the email address you provided at the time of submission of the claim.

• A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Columbia University Health Care, Inc. (“Columbia” or “Defendant”) regarding an alleged data security incident alleged to have occurred between September 11, 2023, and March 7, 2024 (the “Data Incident”). The files allegedly affected by the Data Incident contained the Private Information of certain individuals. Plaintiffs claim that Defendant was responsible for the Data Incident. Defendant denies all of the claims.
• The lawsuit is called Nemeth v. Columbia University Health Care, Inc., Case No. 655570/2024 (the “Action”). The lawsuit alleges that the Data Incident potentially impacted certain Private Information of Plaintiffs and the members of the putative Class.
• The Settlement Class includes all individuals in the United States whose Private Information was impacted in the Data Incident. It excludes: (1) the judges presiding over this Action, and members of their direct families; (2) the Defendant, its subsidiaries, parent companies, successors, predecessors, and any entity in which the Defendant or its parents have a controlling interest, and their current or former officers and directors; and (3) Settlement Class Members who submit a valid request for exclusion prior to the Opt-Out Deadline`

Your Legal Rights and Options in This Settlement

Submit a Claim Form	The deadline to submit a Claim Form passed on November 25, 2025.
Exclude Yourself from the Settlement	The deadline to exclude yourself passed on October 27, 2025.
Object to the Settlement	The deadline to object yourself passed on October 27, 2025.
Final Approval Hearing	The Final Approval was granted on December 5, 2025.
Do Nothing	You will not get any payments or benefits from the settlement, and you will give up certain legal rights. You will remain in the Settlement Class and be subject to the Release.

The Court in charge of this case still has to decide whether to approve the settlement. No Settlement Payments or benefits will be provided unless the Court approves the settlement, and it becomes Final.
